The short answer

These two apps are built for different jobs. YouCam Makeup is a mature, very large beauty editor: virtual makeup try-on, face shaping, skin smoothing, AI filters, with a skin analysis feature that its maker, Perfect Corp, describes on its blog. Beeuty is a skin analysis app and nothing else: one selfie, thirteen analyses, a saved history and a routine built from the result.

If you want to try lipstick shades and occasionally check your skin, YouCam is the obvious pick and it is available on Android, which Beeuty is not. If the thing you actually want is a repeatable skin read you can compare week to week, Beeuty is built around that and YouCam is not.

Everything below comes from each vendor's public App Store listing, website or blog, last checked on 21 October 2026. "Not stated" means we could not find the information publicly, not that the vendor does something wrong.

What each app actually is

YouCam Makeup: Face Editor is published by Perfect Mobile Corp, part of Perfect Corp, a beauty-tech company that also licenses its AR technology to cosmetics brands. The iOS listing describes face shaping, skin smoothing, blemish removal, hair colour, AI age and style filters. It is free to download with a premium subscription for extra filters, effects and ad-free editing. At the time of writing the US App Store shows a 4.7 rating from more than 150,000 ratings, version 6.48 released in October 2026, a download size around 250 MB, iOS 17 or later, and 35 languages. On its blog, Perfect Corp describes a free AI skin analysis inside the app covering up to ten concerns (spots, wrinkles, dark circles, texture, eye bags, redness, oiliness, pores, moisture, radiance) with a visual map and a skin diary. The same post states the skin diagnostic feature is available on Android only, and the App Store listing we read does not mention skin analysis at all.

Beeuty (listed as "AI Skin & Face Scanner: beeuty") is a skin analysis app for iPhone and iPad, iOS 16.4 or later. From one selfie it produces a 0–100 skin score, an estimated skin age (Glow Age), your skin type and Fitzpatrick phototype, and a face map of visible concerns: acne and blemishes, pores and texture, fine lines, sun damage, hydration and redness. On top of the read it builds a routine, an ingredient guide, and since version 1.2 an Ingredient Check that reads a product label from a photo. Scans are saved so you can see your score trend. It is free to download with an optional PRO subscription, analysis photos are deleted after 30 days, and the app states plainly that results are cosmetic estimates, not diagnoses.

Where YouCam Makeup is the better choice

  • You are on Android. Beeuty has no Android version. YouCam does, and by the vendor's own account that is where its skin feature lives.
  • You want makeup try-on. This is YouCam's core and it is excellent at it: lipstick, foundation shades, hair colour, lashes, all live on your face. Beeuty does none of this.
  • You want a track record. YouCam has been on the store for over a decade with hundreds of thousands of ratings. Beeuty launched in April 2026.
  • You want 35 languages. Beeuty currently supports 10.
  • You edit photos. Retouching, filters, backgrounds, collages: all YouCam.

Where Beeuty is the better choice

  • Skin analysis on iPhone. If YouCam's skin diagnostic is Android-only, as its maker states, an iPhone user does not get it. Beeuty's entire feature set is the skin read.
  • Depth of the read. Thirteen analyses from one photo, including skin type, phototype and a skin age estimate, with a zone-by-zone face map rather than a single list.
  • A stated retention policy. Beeuty says analysis photos are deleted after 30 days. We could not find a retention statement for YouCam's skin feature.
  • Routine from the result. The scan feeds a routine builder, an ingredient guide and a label-reading Ingredient Check, so the output is something to do, not only something to look at.
  • No editing temptation. A skin tracker and a skin smoother in the same app pull in opposite directions. Beeuty has no beauty filters, so what you track is what the camera saw.
  • Honest framing. Beeuty states that it estimates appearance and does not diagnose. We treat that as a feature, not a hedge; read AI analysis versus a dermatologist for where the line is.

Who should pick which

Pick YouCam Makeup if you already use it for makeup or editing, you are on Android, or you want an occasional skin read inside an app you open anyway.

Pick Beeuty if you are on iPhone or iPad, you want to know your skin type and main visible concerns, and you want to check in every week or two to see whether a new product is doing anything. The skin score guide explains how to read the trend without over-interpreting a single scan.

Use both if makeup try-on and skin tracking are both part of your routine. They do not overlap much, and neither one costs anything to start.

Looking for a YouCam alternative for skin analysis?

Most people searching for a YouCam alternative want one of two things. If it is editing, Beeuty is not your answer; look at the other photo editors on the store. If it is skin analysis, especially on iPhone where YouCam's skin feature is not available, Beeuty is a direct alternative: free to start, a fuller read, a saved history and a clear privacy statement.

For the wider field, our comparison of seven AI skin analysis apps covers L'Oréal Skin Genius, Skinive, Lumino, Glamora and Skinify alongside these two, with the same criteria. And whichever app you choose, the photo matters more than the model: see how accurate AI skin analysis really is before you trust any number.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Does YouCam Makeup have skin analysis?
According to Perfect Corp's own blog, YouCam Makeup includes a free AI skin analysis covering up to ten concerns with a skin diary, and the skin diagnostic feature is available on Android only. The iOS App Store listing we read in October 2026 describes makeup try-on and photo editing and does not mention skin analysis.
Is Beeuty free like YouCam?
Both are free to download and free to start. YouCam's premium subscription unlocks editing features such as extra filters and ad-free use. Beeuty's optional PRO subscription unlocks deeper analysis features; the core skin analysis is free.
Which is more accurate, Beeuty or YouCam?
Neither vendor publishes comparable accuracy studies, so we do not rank them on accuracy. Both estimate how skin looks in a photo and neither diagnoses anything. Lighting, distance and filters affect the result more than the choice of model, so the honest comparison is scope, tracking and privacy, which is what this page covers.
What happens to my selfie in each app?
Beeuty states that analysis photos are deleted after 30 days. We could not find a retention statement specific to the skin feature in YouCam's listings; check Perfect Corp's privacy policy before uploading.
Can I use Beeuty on Android?
No. Beeuty is available on iPhone and iPad only. YouCam Makeup is available on both iOS and Android.
A quick note: Beeuty is a cosmetic and educational app, not a medical device. Its analyses estimate how your skin looks in a photo — they do not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. If a spot, rash, or mole worries you, or a concern persists or gets worse, please see a dermatologist.
