The short answer

Lumino wins on convenience: nothing to install, no account, works on any device with a browser, and it is free. Beeuty wins on everything that comes after the first scan: a saved history, a trend you can read, guided capture that keeps photos comparable, a stated photo retention policy and a clear statement of what the results are and are not.

If you want to satisfy curiosity in sixty seconds on a laptop, use Lumino. If you want to find out whether your new retinol is doing anything by week eight, you need an app that remembers week one, and that is Beeuty.

Details below come from the lumino.skin website and Beeuty's App Store listing, last checked 21 October 2026. Where we say "not visible", we mean we could not find the statement in the page text; the vendor may answer it elsewhere.

What each tool actually is

Lumino (lumino.skin) is a web tool that describes itself with "No app. No sign-up. No waiting room." You drag and drop one selfie and it returns what the site calls "100+ individual skin checks", including texture, tone, pores and barrier condition, plus a skin type, a hydration read, your top concerns, an estimated skin age, and a morning and evening routine with product recommendations. The site describes the analysis as free. On privacy it states "Your photo stays private — always"; the FAQ lists entries on photo privacy and on whether it can replace a dermatologist, but the answers were not visible in the page text we could read, and we did not find a footer disclaimer. Because there is no account, there is no history.

Beeuty ("AI Skin & Face Scanner: beeuty") is an iPhone and iPad app (iOS 16.4 or later). From one selfie it produces a 0–100 skin score, an estimated skin age (Glow Age), skin type and Fitzpatrick phototype, and a face map covering blemishes, pores and texture, fine lines, sun damage, hydration and redness. It builds an ingredient-led routine, offers an ingredient guide and a label-reading Ingredient Check, and keeps a history with the score trend. Free with an optional PRO subscription; analysis photos deleted after 30 days; results stated to be cosmetic estimates, not diagnoses.

Where Lumino is the better choice

  • Zero friction. No install, no account, no permissions. For a one-time look it is hard to beat.
  • Any device. Android, Windows, a work laptop: if it has a browser, Lumino runs. Beeuty is iOS only.
  • Nothing persists by default. If you specifically do not want an app holding your scans, a stateless web tool is the simpler model.
  • Speed to a routine. It hands you an AM/PM routine with product picks in one pass, which some people prefer to building one up.

Where Beeuty is the better choice

  • History. This is the whole argument. A skin read is only as useful as the one you compare it with. Lumino cannot compare because it does not remember. Beeuty's trend view is what turns "I think it is working" into something you can check; the skin score guide explains how.
  • Comparable photos. Beeuty's camera guides framing and distance so scan two looks like scan one. An uploaded photo can be anything, and lighting changes the result more than the model does.
  • A stated retention period. "Stays private" is reassuring but not specific. Beeuty says 30 days, then deleted.
  • Clear scope. Beeuty says what it is: a cosmetic estimate, not a diagnosis. We could not find an equivalent statement on Lumino's page, and the language leans clinical. We would like to see that added.
  • Ingredient tools. Beyond the routine, the Ingredient Check reads any product label and flags clashes, so you are not locked into recommended products.

Who should pick which

Pick Lumino if you want a free one-off read right now, you are not on iPhone, or you do not want any app keeping anything.

Pick Beeuty if you plan to scan more than once, you want to judge a routine over 8 to 12 weeks, or you care about knowing exactly how long your photo is kept.

Use both if you like to cross-check: a browser read today, an app read in the same light, and see where they agree. Neither is a diagnosis; here is where the line sits.

Looking for a Lumino alternative?

The usual reasons are the three above: no history, no guided capture, and the privacy and medical-scope answers being hard to find. Beeuty addresses all three on iPhone and iPad. If you need another browser tool, L'Oréal Skin Genius is a free web scan with an explicit immediate-deletion policy, narrower in scope; we compare it in Beeuty vs Skin Genius, and the full field is in our seven-app comparison.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is Lumino free?
Lumino's website describes the analysis as free and requires no sign-up. Beeuty is free to download with an optional PRO subscription for deeper features; the core scan is free.
Does Lumino save my results?
Not that the site describes. There is no account, so there is no history to compare against. Beeuty saves each scan and shows your score trend.
What does Lumino do with my photo?
The site states your photo stays private, and its FAQ lists a photo-privacy entry whose answer was not visible in the page text we read. Beeuty states that analysis photos are deleted after 30 days.
Is Beeuty available in the browser?
No. Beeuty is an iPhone and iPad app with no web version. Lumino runs in any browser and has no app.
Which is more accurate?
Neither publishes a comparable study, and both estimate how skin looks in one photo. The practical difference is that Beeuty guides the capture and keeps a history, which makes its readings comparable over time; a single uploaded photo in variable light is the weakest form of evidence either tool can work from.
A quick note: Beeuty is a cosmetic and educational app, not a medical device. Its analyses estimate how your skin looks in a photo — they do not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. If a spot, rash, or mole worries you, or a concern persists or gets worse, please see a dermatologist.
